Orange wood is absolutely environmentally friendly. It is used at the end of its life or comes from plantations conversions and renewals. Its use as parquet and wall covering, allows to exploit a material that should be thrown away, in a context of proper environmental sustainability. The European community, to keep control on plantations, subsidizes the “set aside” (change of use), setting aside the ground in the orchards to reduce global production by limiting the production surplus.
QuadroLegno (www.quadrolegno.com), the company that created the QOrange Line, uses only materials coming from Italian orange plantations, as well as Italian are the hands that work in all its phases.
Orange is a Mediterranean plant whose wood was, until now, only used for inlays, musical instruments and tools. From now, however, this same material can be used to decorate all residential or commercial spaces, making its way in the world of design and architecture, searching for creatives, developers of ideas and meanings.
QOrange will be presented in its solid wood version: a single piece of orange solid wood interlocking on four sides and slightly bevelled. Sizes: thickness of 14/15 mm, width ranging from 50 to 150 mm and lengths ranging from 400 to 1,200 mm. Not beyond, because orange is a plant of small dimensions. QuadroLegno is able to realize even more special measures, such as the 50 x 500 mm, the herringbone or the French/Hungarian-cut 45°-30°. In the evaluation phase also plywood, with the orange noble part supported by other wooden elements. The material is delivered already finished with splitted or smooth surface, according to the preferences.
It is also possible to polish the wood while working it: the tone differences, nuances, streaks are a peculiarity of this wood, they do not disappear because they are natural, not an effect due to any surface treatment.

QOrange orange wood flooring at Salone del Mobile di Milano
A wood species never before used for floor or wall coverings is coming onto the market. At the Salone del Mobile in Milan (14th to 19th April 2015), Hall 5 Stand M16, ViBiEffe stand, it will be possible to see live a parquet made entirely of orangewood. No one had ever used this variety to create floors. A unique material, sustainable, natural, versatile and creative. 100% made in Italy. This wood, worked in a totally natural way, has a light grain, a light color tone and is compact with a high specific weight. It is white, but not too much. It's warm. It is tinged with brown and gray. Material and neutral. It is real wood, genuine and natural with no artificial alteration but solely and exclusively the work of nature, the wise use of the wood and its cutting to the final processing.
